Cowbridge 400
September 2008 marked the 400th anniversary of
Cowbridge Grammar School.
To mark this unique history a number of celebrationstook place in September 2008.
The Cowbridge Old Boys Association in partnership with pupils and staff of the present Cowbridge Comprehensive School arranged several activities including a joint exhibition of memorabilia in Old Hall and the production of a DVD about life in the Grammar School.
Bell ringing by the old school band of change ringers, a Church Service and a rather splendid formal luncheon were also arranged.
In association with the Cowbridge & District Local History Society, a Blue Plaque was unveiled on the wall of the old Grammar School on Church Street and the plaque commemorating Alun Lewis, the poet and ex- pupil, was re-dedicated.
